Gaming / Virtual Reality Development Course Description
The Gaming and Virtual Reality Development course introduces students to the exciting world of interactive digital experiences, combining professional game development techniques with immersive VR technology. Using Epic Unreal Engine, the industry-standard platform, students learn to design, build, and animate 3D worlds, characters, and gameplay mechanics. The course also incorporates the latest VR headsets, allowing learners to create and explore fully interactive environments. This hands-on program provides students with the foundational skills and creative problem-solving abilities needed to develop engaging games, simulations, and virtual experiences, preparing them for careers in gaming, VR, and digital media.
The Game Development with Unreal Engine course immerses students in the world’s most powerful and widely used real-time 3D creation platform.
Semester A
Learners will gain hands-on experience building interactive environments, designing gameplay mechanics, optimizing performance, and developing fully functional game levels. Using Unreal Engine’s Blueprint visual scripting system, students can prototype and create gameplay without needing advanced programming skills, while also exploring the engine’s cutting-edge tools for lighting, physics, animation, sound, and user interface design. The course introduces industry-standard workflows used in AAA game studios, allowing students to develop the technical and creative skills needed to produce professional, high-quality game experiences.
Semester B
In addition to core game development, students will explore Unreal Engine’s expanding role in virtual production, simulation, and immersive media. The course covers world-building techniques, character integration, and environment design that translate seamlessly across both gaming and VR applications. Learners will also gain experience testing and optimizing their projects for desktop, mobile, and next-generation platforms. By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in Unreal Engine and a portfolio-ready interactive project that demonstrates their ability to design, build, and publish dynamic real-time experiences using the global industry standard.
